One pig. One pistol. One field that refuses to stop spawning things that would very much like bacon for dinner.

The pig shoots by himself, so every choice you make comes down to footwork. Wander too far into open ground and the slimes cut off your exit; camp a corner too long and the bats seal you in. Here, movement is the weapon.

Every monster you drop spills experience across the floor. Gather enough of it and the action freezes to hand you three upgrades - extra bullets, a wider spread, quicker boots, a little healing. The same trio never comes up twice, so no two runs finish the same way.

Coins you carry out of a run are spent back at the manor on outfits and permanent boosts, which means even a short, scrappy attempt leaves you stronger than before.

Move, dodge, and let the pig handle the shooting. There is no fire button - positioning and picking the right upgrade are your entire job.

Controls: 1. Move: - on a computer: WASD or the arrow keys. - on phones and tablets: press and hold anywhere on the screen, then drag to steer the on-screen stick. 2. Choose an upgrade: click or tap one of the three cards that appear when you level up. 3. Collect: walk over experience orbs, coins and chests - nothing is picked up for you.

• Grab movement speed early. Nearly every early death comes from being too slow to slip out of a closing ring.
• Commit to one damage type instead of spreading your picks thin - one fully built weapon beats three half-finished ones.
• Kite in wide loops. Strung out in a line, five enemies can be caught by a single shot.
• Leave chests where they lie until the wave thins; cracking one open mid-swarm is how promising runs end.
• Always keep an escape lane behind you. Fighting with your back to a wall throws away the only defence you have.
